- 2sDouble the number.
- 3sDouble the number, then add one more of it.
- 4sDouble it, then double again.
- 5sMultiply by 10, then halve it.
- 6sMultiply by 5, then add one more of the number.
- 7sMultiply by 5, then add 2 more groups of the number.
- 8sDouble it three times.
- 9sMultiply by 10, then take away the number.
- 10sPut a zero on the end.
- 11sFor 1 to 9, write the digit twice. For bigger numbers, split the digits and put their sum in the middle.

Common questions
What order should kids learn the times tables in?
A common order is 2, 10, 5, 11, 3, 4, 9, 6, 8, 7 and 12: the tables with simple patterns first, then the ones that build on them.
How long does it take to learn the times tables?
It varies a lot from child to child. Short daily practice, a few minutes at a time, works better than long sessions once in a while.
