The 10 times table trick
Put a zero on the end.
- 10 × 7: write 7, add a zero, 70.
Examples
- 10 × 7: 7 → 70
- 10 × 12: 12 → 120
Why it works
Multiplying by 10 moves every digit one place to the left, and the empty ones place gets a 0.

Common questions
Does adding a zero work for decimals?
Not quite: for decimals, move the decimal point one place to the right instead. 10 × 2.5 = 25.
